I just want to point out a few things that caught my eye about the post “debate” analysis by the news media and the pundits. First, is it a good idea to have as one of your spinners a man who just got called a liar by federal prosecutors — Chris Christie. Second, Chuck Todd looked like a man in a hostage video when asked about fact checkers. Finally, friendship and knowing people in the media goes a long way in washing away the stench of working for Donald Trump. Yes, I’m talking about “makes my teeth ache” Kellyanne Conway.
Let’s keep this in chronological order. MSNBC brings on the lying bully Chris Christie to spin for Trump’s performance last night. Naturally, when confronted with Trump’s lies, Christie dismissed fact checkers as people with an agenda.
Is it wise to bring in a man who just last week was accussed by federal prosecutors of knowing about Bridgegate all along? Brian Williams did his crack job of not asking Christie about those allegations against him. I guess it would be impolitic.
Next up, when Brian Williams asks Chuck Todd about Christie’s lie that fact checkers have an agenda, did anyone one else notice that Todd’s eyes kept veering off to the right of camera? He didn’t do this while answering any other question. But when it came to calling Christie a liar, Todd simply said that no one he knows as a fact checker has an agenda.
This happened more than once during this discussion. It looked like one of two things. Todd was doing his damndest NOT to piss off his Republican sources who I imagine Christie is one. So he had to defend fact checkers, but he couldn’t be dismissive of Christie’s lies. The mental process looked like, “Um, how do I say this?”
Or there was someone off to the right of camera who Todd did not want to piss off by saying that the lying bully from NJ is full of shit. Either a Republican or one of his bosses at MSNBC? Who knows. But it looked like a hostage video.
And I was waiting around for Kellyanne “Isn’t she so professional” Conway to show up. One of the best people around to piss down your back and tell you it is raining. This time she was with Chris Matthews. The long and short of it was that Kellyanne got so bad that Matthews said his interview was “Orwellian.”
I suppose that is a nice way of saying you like like a cheap rug. Rachel Maddow admitted that Chris and Kellyanne and buds, and she is really good at keeping questions away. Another nice way of saying, “Liar, liar pants on fire.”
So if you have been friends with some people in the news and entertainment industry, you can get on shows and lie like there is no tomorrow. Well, this is if you are “professional” at it. Who knew that being a professional liar was such a good gig?
