Watching journalists go after Buzzfeed about publishing the unsubstantiated material on Trump’s visit to Russia was like watching one set of drug addicts attacking another group of addicts for their drug of choice. How often did we see the media publish every leaked DNC email from Wikileaks? Donald Trump would pump up the “crookedness” in those emails and trumpet to the ends of the Universe. No one ever asked those who published the emails, “Have you verified them? How can you put out material that was fake?” Yet, here we have some, especially a group on MSNBC — Chris Matthews and Chuck Todd — needing their smelling salts.
And then the Godfather of Fake News took the stage. He of “I’m sending investigators to find out about Obama’s birth certificate” Trump. How many years did that scam go on? This was fake news.
But Lord spare me, I had to listen to Chuck “I’m not a fact checker” Todd giving Ben Smith of Buzzfeed a hard time about journalistm. And what was at the center of all this pearl clutching by the media?
Golden showers.
At least, I believe that was behind all umbrage. Everyone is moving around this fact like they walked into a room filled with fetishes who were just practicing their kink. So the “Eewww” factor is pushing part of this I’m afraid.
I have no idea if any of the released documents is real. But hasn’t all kind of other theories moved around and found their way to the mainstream media during this campaign? There was that fake story that Hillary Clinton killed an FBI agent, but I do not recall Chris Matthews or Chuck Todd tracking down the source and chewing their collective assess out. No proof mind you, but it was fake news that got around.
I’d feel a lot better about this selective outrage by the media against the media if it happened a little more often and did manage to demolish fake news.
