While waiting for either “All In with Chris Hayes” or a sports event, I sometimes leave the TV on Chris Matthews ‘ show. It’s usually a very bad idea because Chris will do something centrist or Beltway think on his show, and it will remind me that there are still plenty of sellout Democrats around to fuck things up. However, an interesting point was raised on Matthews’ show. Matthews says straight out that FBI Director Comey is playing coy on his knowledge about whether there was an Obama Administration DOJ warrant and wiretapping operation on Trump. Matthews says plain out loud that Comey does not want to get fired, and it is the only reason he has been circumspect, unlike when he regulary blabbed about Hillary Clinton.
Jonathan Alter believes that Comey will be forced to come clean when he is asked under oath on March 20th before a senate committee. If what Chris Matthes says is true, won’t Trump still fire Comey if he answers honestly that there was no Obama DOJ wiretapped performed on Trump during last years election? The moment that Comey comes out in public and implies that Trump is lying and/or nuts, i cannot imagine that Trump will love Comey after that event.
So I wonder, what’s the point of waiting to testify? Is Comey somehow shielded if he is forced to testity and tell the truth to a senate committee? Frankly, I’m not a lawyer, so I have no idea. So I thought I would throw the discussion open to anyone who might have an answer on someone testifying before Congress?
