He has reportedly lied nearly 11,000 times in 124 weeks since his inauguration.
Moreover, everyone knows it.
Trump knows it, Melania knows it, Sarah Sanders knows it, Kellyanne Conway knows it, Don Junior knows it, Eric knows it, Ivanka knows it, Mick Mulvaney knows it, William Barr knows it, every cabinet member knows it, and so does every person who works in the White House and in every federal agency.
Mitch McConnell knows it, Lindsey Graham knows it, Chuck Grassley knows it, Kevin McCarthy knows it, as does every other Republican in the House and Senate who pretends that Donald Trump has even the slightest sense of respect for the truth.
Anderson Cooper knows it, Sean Hannity knows it, Rush Limbaugh knows it, Chris Matthews knows it, George Will knows it, Peggy Noonan knows it, and Maggie Haberman knows it, along with every other person who works for every media outlet that so busily reports every word Trump utters, 24/7, as if anything he says really matters.
Does anyone who has ever done business with Donald Trump not know that he is a pathological liar?
Of course not.
Professionals say that the healthy thing to do when you encounter a pathological liar like Donald J. Trump is to bug out because you will never be able to relate in any meaningful way to someone who places no value on the truth.
Melania and maybe one or more of Trump’s offspring might try to hope that Trump will somehow, someday change but at some point, each of them will have to ask, “Do I really want to spend the rest of my life wondering whether or not I’m being duped?”
Isn’t that the question the rest of us should ask and, if so, why are we still listening?
