Chris Matthews’ Hardball panel discussion of the current clusterf**k in A.G. Fred Flintstone’s Justice Department wraps up with this extremely relevant question from Mr. Say-It-Don’t-Spray It:
C.M. to Charlie Sykes (Sykes is a Never-Trumper Conservative):
“Who do you think the voters, the 90% of Republicans who support Trump, who do you think they’d like to see run against him?”
To the complete and utter astonishment of Foaming Chris, Sykes answers, “Bernie Sanders.”
This is Chris’ way of being subtle, you see, because he gets somebody else to say what Chris himself is constantly saying. It is roughly as subtle as a meat axe, and shows once again, that he is both unable to contain his hatred of Bernie Sanders, and that he is an imbecile.
To begin with, his question came at the end of a panel discussion that had nothing to do with who was going to run against Trump. It was about the Justice Department brouhaha, not the election. Second, as Charlie Sykes is an Old Tyme Republican conservative, was there any possible doubt about who he would say was the weakest Democratic candidate? Third, the question itself is so stupid that poor Charlie had to answer a different question than the one he was asked.
Chris asked who the Trumpvoters wanted to see run against their Dear Leader. I’m pretty sure they don’t care if Jesus H. Christ is the Democratic nominee (chosen by a deadlocked convention at 3AM, after 12 rounds of voting.) They are going to vote for The Great Man, regardless. His opponent is irrelevant.
I guess he meant “Who do you think the Republican strategists want to see on the other side?” or “Who do you think Trump’s people want to see?” But then, that’s part of what makes Chris such a uniquely incompetent interviewer and host.
